There are people who are willing to do wedding negotiations for anything that deals with the wedding. Then there are those who would rather have their teeth pulled. Negotiating what you want and what you want to pay for your wedding can make a big difference in what kind of wedding you want.

Once the word wedding is put in front of anything the price for that item or service will tend to skyrocket. Here's where good negotiating and a right attitude come in.

Remember, this is your party and you have every right to get what you want. Don't lose your mind when it comes to what is reasonable and just accept whatever venders tell you.

One approach when dealing with service vendors is to ask what their price is for a particular service without mentioning that it is for a wedding.

Here are some examples:

How much too rent a facility on such and such a date for 200 people?

How much to cater a party of 200 people at such and such a location?

How much to rent a limousine for transportation of two people for so many hours?

How much for a three layer cake that will serve 200 people?

When they ask you what kind of function it is, say it's for a large or small, depending on the wedding size, family function?

You are not lying because it is a family function. I think you will be surprised at how much less the cost will be.

Use your imagination and apply this throughout the wedding planning process.

It is your wedding and it is you who decides what you want and what are reasonable costs. Demand the lowest prices.

The key to negotiating successfully begins at an unconscious level that you are in charge and that you are giving them the opportunity to meet your needs.

These are business people and are used to negotiating with other businesses but when it comes to "Wedding" they will push and push you because they know that your emotions are high. They will take advantage of you if you let them. Push back and let them know who is in charge. Be passionate. Don't make the mistake of giving you business to a vendor who has one price for regular events and a special price for weddings.

If you don't feel right in negotiating, do you have a friend or family member who is good at it? Call on them to help you out.

If you can't find anyone who can help you, swallow hard and give it a shot. It's best in this case to star with a small negotiation, like with the limousine company, and then work your way up to the bigger one's as you get more confidence.

Your ultimate goal is to have the wedding you want and have dreamed about for years. Taking steps like demanding the best prices for everything can make your dream come true.

Once you have negotiated the best that you can you will have a feeling of satisfaction and you won't be worrying about these things during one of the most beautiful days in your life.

The fewer dollars you spend on the wedding itself will leave you with more money to set up house with your new spouse.
