A reclining office chair may seem like an oxymoron, as it doesn't exactly conjure up the image of burning the midnight oil and worker productivity. However, if you are thinking of replacing your office chairs, or purchasing new ones, its an investment to consider. Traditional office chairs can put a lot of pressure on the lower back, and can aggravate back pain. Reclining office chairs help to relieve this pressure on the lower back that is easily aggravated by tasks such as sitting and driving.

While reclining chairs feel more comfortable to most people, they also have additional work-related benefits as well. By decreasing the pain and fatigue that comes from sitting too long, concentration and productivity are easily improved. Reclining chairs help promote better spinal health and provide increased blood circulation to the legs, in addition to taking the strain off of the lower back. The other important feature is the footrest. A footrest is necessary, as it allows the pressure to come off of the feet and truly take the weight off of the body. Along with the chair, the footrest should be large enough to incorporate a wide variety of leg lengths. In addition, it should also be somewhat adjustable, in order to allow for maximum comfort. A zero -gravity type chair, where the legs are elevated to a larger extent, can be extremely comfortable.

Reclining office chairs may also come with a variety of other features, such as vibration or heat, a speciality headrest, or a cupholder. While these can be enjoyable, they are not essential. For an office enviroment, the main features to evaluate are the comfort of the chair, and the ability to adjust its positions, the incline positions of the recliner, and the footrest. Don't be too distracted by additional features, as they are not as neccesary for health benefits.

Reclining office chairs are an overdue addition to the workplace. They provide substantial benefits to employees' health and well-being, and their initial investment will more than pay for itself with in increase in worker productivity and concentration. Purchasing reclining office chairs instead of traditional chairs will be an asset to your business.
