With every breath we are taking in more harmful toxins every day. We are all drug addicts nowadays and our bodies need to be detoxed regularly. Even drinking good old water is hugely beneficial, as long as there is not too much chlorine and other approved "friendly agents" swimming around in it.

We all know this has been continually getting worse over time and the future is not looking too hopeful for a global cleanup any time soon. It feels as if even the governments of well meaning countries are powerless on a global scale to demand any action to improve the quality of our lives and health.

Normally, we think of toxins as being physical toxic substances. However, in our present world of fast living and high spending, there are several "toxins" that corrupt the mind. The obsessive craving for material items, the desire to live the lifestyle of the so-called famous and beautiful people, the hectic pace of work and life, and the hunger for more and more money eventually wear the mind down into a state of shock. The result is stress, depression, irritation, jealousy and anger all of which toxify the mind and can severely affect our relationship with family and friends. In extreme cases murder, manslaughter and a whole host of lesser crimes can result.

Good food for our internal engine keeps us going. Our internal organs are not particularly demanding. A bit of roughage, a bit of lubrication, some vitamins and minerals and we can keep going for a long time. Anything naturally grown is like food for the gods to our bodies. But what do we do? Load up with junk devised by accountants to increase the bottom line. The advertisers and junk food companies are making a killing - Us! Even a simple thing like our daily bread is now becoming so full of sugar and salt and "inclusions" it is difficult to recognize it as bread. We don't even have to chew it after its been steamed and the crust cut off! No wonder most people are at the doctors every 5 minutes.

It is becoming decidedly apparent that food is not grown or reared anymore. In fact, most would be difficult to class as food, rather mass produced filler with chemicals and fertilizers. Throw in some artificial colouring together with a hint of artificial flavoring and we have a diet that makes our internal organs work hard enough to collapse. What can we expect if we run the most complex piece of machinery on the planet, who only wants a touch of fibre and a few minerals and vitamins available naturally, on starch, filler, salt and fat? Good health comes with good food.

As if these toxins and pollutants are not enough to harm our body, we also voluntarily get addicted to quite a few other items that affect our body adversely. The most common among them are tobacco and alcohol. The next higher levels of addiction are drugs like marijuana, cocaine, heroin and methadone some of which can have extreme adverse effects and even be fatal once the addiction sets in.
