When I have just started to write newsletter, it usual took me about 2 hours to write an article of about 400 words. That means I can write about 4 articles in about 8 hours. I need to write two newsletters for my websites weekly. Thus, I will spend about 4 hours per week writing my newsletters. This is not very efficient way since almost half a day is gone.

Thus, I have decided to demand higher standard for myself and try to find ways and means to improve my efficiency. I realize that if I spend a little bit of time to do planning for the article, I can write it in about 1 hour. This is almost half the original time required. Yes, I have improved!

This is exactly what I have learned from seminars. One is always responsible for one's situation. The only way to improve is to demand a higher standard for oneself. Nobody will be hounding one to improve. In short, one is simply reporting to oneself. If one is lax in supervising oneself, then one will not improve. In fact, one may deteriorate as a result.

I have realized that this is the same for anything in life. If I am happy about my current situation, I will not do anything to improve it because I am too comfortable. If I am unhappy about my current situation, I will not do anything to improve it because I am too uncomfortable. In fact, I may just go around complaining to everyone only.

No matter whether I am happy or unhappy, my situation will only improve after I have decided to raise my standard. Yes, I can demand better living conditions, better lifestyle, better pay and so on. If I raise the standard for myself, I will take actions to improve my situation. Consequently, my situation will improve.

For example, you can try playing a 1000 pieces jigsaw puzzle. Time yourself how long you need to take to fix up the puzzle for the very first time. Before you proceed to do it again, you can do some planning based on your previous experience so that you do it faster the next time round. Always raise your standard to finish the puzzle in shortest possible time each round. As you progress through each round, you will realize that you are improving.

The idea that I will like to share with you:
Demand higher standard for yourself so that you can improve.
