If there is one part of cleaning that I can't stand, it is dealing with shower doors. It seems that nothing gets them clean unless you make it a point to clean them every single day. I don't think I know anyone who has the time to do this. Shower doors come in many materials, and if you are building a home or remodeling a bathroom, you should decide on your shower doors based on not only looks, but on how easy they will be to clean. This may be hard to know beforehand, so you should take some time to do some research.

If you search online, you are going to find reviews of just about everything, and I'm pretty sure you can find reviews on shower doors. You should look to find out what materials seem to be the easiest to clean, and which brands others have been happy with. Keep in mind, however, that how hard shower doors are to clean may have to do with the type of water in your house, as well as what they are made of and how they are constructed.

If you have hard water in your home, you are going to have a rough time keeping your shower doors clean. Hard water contains a lot of extra minerals, and these minerals love to cling to just about anything they can. You will find that hard water will not only coat your shower doors with a film of white material, it will also shorten the life of your appliances, and will form scale on sinks and tubs. Calcium and lime are the two main minerals you have to watch out for, and once they get a hold of your shower doors, you are going to have to scrub to get rid of them.

A good water softener will help eliminate this problem, but if you can't afford one, or don't think you need to have one, you will have to buy a cleaner for your shower doors that will take care of lime and other mineral deposits. This type of cleaner is often harsh, and has to be left sitting on the minerals in order to dissolve them. Keep this in mind when choosing your shower doors, because a weaker material may not stand up well to this sort of cleaner over a period of time. This not only applies to the face of the doors, but the quality of the trim and fixtures as well.
